Scoliosis Management (Schroth-Based Exercises)

Individual sessions for adults, children and teenagers living with scoliosis.

At Studio 11, scoliosis sessions draw on principles of the Schroth Method, a specialised exercise approach developed specifically for people with scoliosis.

The Schroth Method focuses on elongating the spine, improving alignment, reducing rotational patterns and using targeted breathing techniques to support postural correction. Exercises are individually adapted to the specific curve pattern of each client.

When practiced regularly, Schroth-based exercises can help to:

  • slow the progression of spinal curves
  • improve posture and spinal alignment
  • strengthen the muscles that support the spine
  • improve breathing patterns and rib mobility
  • reduce discomfort occasionallyassociated with scoliosis
  • improve body awareness and confidence

Many clients learn the exercises relatively quickly and are able to continue managing their scoliosis independently at home after a few sessions. I am always happy to provide follow-up support if needed.

Scoliosis in Children and Teenagers

For children and teenagers who are still growing, the Schroth Method is most effective when used alongside bracing and regular medical monitoring. In these cases, exercises are designed to complement the work of the brace and support healthy spinal development.

Sessions for younger clients focus on building good movement habits, body awareness and confidence in managing their condition.
